Christopher Christie, a republican candidate has defeated incumbent Jon Corzine and is now the first Republic Govenor of New Jersey in 12 years.
Christie got a 49% vote and Corzine got 45% . About 98% of the precincts were counted. Christie is a former U.S> attorney who campaigned on being unsatisfied with the way Corzine performed during the season.
According to some analysts, the poll was the first test of the popularity of the Obama administration.

who was Todd Christie?
He was the CEO of Spear Leeds & Kellogg...which is one of hte five biggest trading firms on Wall Street and was found by SEC to have engaged in illegal trading practices from 1999=2003. SO when the SEC investigation became public knowledge in 2003, Todd Christie was forced out of his position.
