New Mexico Soccer Player Elizabeth Lambert Suspended From Team

New Mexico soccer player Elizabeth Lambert has been suspended from the team for her foul play during last week’s game against Brigham Young University. Fouls including punching, hair pulling, and obstruction all can be seen in the youtube video posted below. The woman’s actions have gained a lot of attention from news media nationwide.

As a soccer player myself I cannot believe Lambert wasn’t carded out of the game after so many fouls. Pulling another player to the ground by the hair should have caught the attention of at least one of the referee’s (with 3 on the field) and easily warrants a red card. Soccer is certainly a very physical sport, but punching and hair pulling with force like that should not be permitted by any coach or teammate out there!
