Motion to move trial in slaying of Rhoni Reuter is denied

A motion to move the murder trial of Marni Yang to a court outside northern Illinois has been denied by Lake County Circuit Judge Victoria Rossetti.

Yang, 41, is charged with the October 2007 slaying of Rhoni Reuter in her Deerfield condo. Reuter, a girlfriend of former Chicago Bears player Shaun Gayle, was pregnant with Gayle's child at the time of her death.

Yang's attorney argued that his client couldn't get a fair trial in Lake County because of news coverage of her arrest.

On Thursday, Rossetti also denied a defense request that prosecutors be barred from speaking to the media about the case. Yang is due back in court Dec. 17.
