septa on strike and game 5 score!

Moment ago at 3 am EST, SEPTA Transport Workers , the largest Union went on strike with no notice to passengers, reportedly no notice to even workers. 928,000 residents useSEPTA each weekday. SEPTA employs 5,000 residents.

SEPTA issued a statement moments ago to AP: “There will be people waking up this morning to commute into work. And unfortunately there’s not going to be service for them.”

The strike is effective Tuesday 3 am and comes hours after the World Series leaves Philly. Last night a win by the Phillies sent the Series back to NYC for game 6. Local 243 voted in favor of a strike on October 25.

The last SEPTA strike was 2005 and it lasted 7 days; one in 1998 lasted over a month.
